The challenges of resettling in a new country (learning the language, understanding the system etc) and the normal and unexpected life challenges that we all face (relationships, illness, employment, ageing, misfortune etc).

The Aberdeen Hall is dedicated to support migrants in Australia required benevolent assistance as a result of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability and helplessness.

We provide our services through the following programmes: 

Free Transport

Free transport available for medical appointment if the patient meets the following criteria:

* must be unable to walk because of permanent or temporary loss of the use of one or both legs or other permanent medical or physical condition or whose physical condition is detrimentally affected as a result of walking 100 metres, or who requires the use of crutches, a walking frame, callipers, scooter, wheelchair, or other similar mobility aid or

* the person is permanently blind.

Meals service

Every little helping hand counts while you are taking care of your family member or loved one so that you have some quality moments with them or private time for yourself to recharge or one less thing to do. We know the importance of staying strong and maintain eating healthy food at this critical period. Therefore we provide meals service to your door step at your request day and time. Here are the sample of meals our kitchen team plans to cook for everyone. 

Service and support for people with disabilities

Help finding Work

Provide rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities to help them develop their potentials for moving towards self-reliance and integrating into the community. Vocational training in actual working environment is also provided for person with disabilities to prepare them for future open employment.

Personal support

We offer a range of support based on individual needs and aspirations. This can include support with:

  • household tasks
  • personal care
  • taking medication
  • building links with friends, family and the community
  • social and leisure activities
  • making healthy lifestyle choices

Our flexible support is available from just a couple of hours a week, seven days a week.

Caring

Single people who are in poor health or elderly who become frail can have difficulty managing daily activities and may become isolated and lonely. Our care programs within Sydney metropolitan areas help those people stay living at home confidently and safely in a range of ways, including by:

  • helping with things like provide culturally and dietary appropriate cooked meals, housekeeping, cleaning and laundry, nursing care, and transport.
  • helping people with complex needs to find and organise the combination of support that is right for them
  • providing respite for carers supporting sick family person at home

Therapy dog service

Our purpose is to help animals and people bring joy to each other.  Our volunteer teams and therapy dogs aim to provide companionship and emotional support on a broader scale to appropriate facilities such as schools, nursing homes, hospital wards and rehabilitation clinics.  Please talk to our staff if you have interest in the service.

Palliative care service

We offer support for home care and assist family members caring for a person with terminal diseases and are stay living at their home. We also offer specialised assistance in organise funeral arrangement for those who requested.

Emergency

We help people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to find affordable and secure housing. We also advocate on their behalf with government agencies, health services and community organisations to help them access long term support, such as household help, nursing support, meals on wheels, and transport etc.

We also provide some financial relief in some extreme situations. Please talk to our staff.
